Every interior design project begins with a conversation. This is when we establish the basics of our idea. We don’t just talk about colours or style; we seek to understand the concept behind the space, the client’s expectations, and the direction we need to take. More than just gathering information, it’s about building a relationship of trust with the client.

Once we are sure of the idea and concept, we move on to the inspiration phase. This is one of the most important stages, and the secret lies in realising that inspiration can come from anywhere: restaurants, magazines, travel or even a seemingly ordinary street. The key is to be aware and curious. It is precisely curiosity that fuels creativity, seeing more, exploring more. At this stage, we seek to understand what kind of environment we want to create, what colour palette appeals to us and what feeling we want to convey through the space.

With the references in mind, we move on to defining the materials, a stage in which every decision counts and has a major impact on the direction of the project. The diversity of materials available is immense, and each one adds a unique layer to the space’s story. Stone or dark wood can create a more sophisticated and intimate environment, while light tones, soft woods, and natural fabrics contribute to a lighter and more relaxed atmosphere.

Lighting, in turn, is a key element. When well thought out, it enhances materials, highlights key areas and helps to create distinct environments. When poorly planned, it can compromise all the work that has been done. Knowing how to work with light is as essential as knowing how to choose a material or colour.

Finally, the project implementation phase, when everything that has been planned takes shape. This is a crucial stage, which requires effective and careful management. More than attention to detail, it requires organisation, communication and coordination skills. It is a phase in which we manage deadlines, suppliers and execution teams. Above all, it is essential to know how to manage expectations, because unexpected events happen – and it is our responsibility to be prepared to solve problems and adapt solutions with agility and clarity.

From start to finish, maximum attention to detail is required. It is the small decisions, often imperceptible to those entering the space, that make all the difference. Each choice contributes to the story that the space tells, carefully constructed from the first inspiration to the last detail.
